A600 Range
The A600 series was conceived to carry out a support role
in local planetary defence forces. This role could be customs patrol vessel,
convoy escort, reconnaissance or even armed freighter. In keeping with
the HaasCorp credo of "Flexibility by Design", each of these
roles is addressed specifically by a modular approach built onto a common
spaceframe and powertrain. Customers are required to specify the envisaged
configuration of each hull at the time of placing the order, although
it is always contractually possible to revise requirement, at the expense
of delayed delivery and increased cost, up to three standard months before
the agreed completion date.
The base assembly of the A600 series features a slightly bulbous nose,
housing the main bridge, connected via a main spine to the series standard
engineering/drive structure, comprising five main thrusters and the hyperdrive
housing. The remaining sub- and superstructure components are built onto
this basic unit.

This A600 variant features a large troop carrying capacity and a full
sized brig. It also boasts a tractor beam emplacement for the apprehension
of fleeing vessels together with a moderate (400 tonne) cargo bay for
the storage of impounded/confiscated materials. To accommodate this it
has sacrificed some of the armaments of the Escort variant, but is still
more than able to hold its own in limited engagements.

Escort Variant - A600 LEV (Light
Escort Vessel)
This variant emphasises combat abilities in the light class of vessel.
It is well armed with both capital class and anti-starfighter weaponry,
plus it replaces the vast majority of the cargo bay with a hanger bay.
This is suitable for up to four starfighters or a maximum of two shuttles.
Enhanced shields and armour (in the form of extra hull plating) round
out the package, though at the cost of some speed and manoeuvrability.

Reconnaissance Variant - A600
RSV (Reconnaissance/Surveillance Vessel)
The fastest and most agile of the A600 series, this variant has sacrificed
both armament and armour to achieve this. Though it is still armed, the
weapons array has been pared back to a minimum, in part at least because
the mission profile doesn't require it and in part because of the power
required to operate the impressive sensor array and the near indispensable
Paladin ECM package. Storage space is at an absolute premium in order
to keep the overall ship mass to a minimum. However, in a cross marketing
ploy with HaasCorp's fighter division, support equipment designed to enhance
the connection between an A100 SRRV and its parent vessel are included
as standard in the A600 RSV (provides a +1D bonus to any attempts to transmit
or receive data from an A100 SRRV). This ship can be housed in the tiny
aft position hanger bay.

Paladin ECM Suite: The Paladin ECM equipment mounted on the
A600 RSV helps to protect the vessel by affecting enemy fire control
and sensor systems. At up to 40 space it reduces fire control and sensors
by -1D, within 20 space that increases to -2D and within 10 space the
scrambling field is so intense that fire control and sensor systems
are scrambled by -3D. Fire control and sensors may never be reduced
below 0D.

Armed Freighter - A600 ATV (Armed
Transport Vessel)
The A600 ATV, in keeping with its role, has the largest cargo capacity
of all the A600 series. Whilst it is armed, this is minimal and of anti-starfighter
nature and not the capital class weaponry featured by its siblings the
CIV and LEV. It is the cheapest ship in the range, due in no small part
to the lack of military grade equipment. All weapons, sensors and shield
generators are off-the-shelf civilian components requiring the lowest
possible grade of licensing. It does have sufficient pace to keep up with
the LEV. All of its cargo bays are independent and can be environmentally
controlled if required.
