Protector-Class Light Escort Vessel
Stats by Chris Deck, Capsule Adapted by Dean Magill

Sienar Fleet Systems first attempted to enter the customs market with the Light Frigate, but it failed to make much of an impact on the market and was shelved within eight months of release. Still keen to penetrate the market, Sienar released the Protector-Class Light Escort Vessel. Its fast sublight engines, accurate weapon systems, good reliability and relatively low price tag made the Protector-Class a big hit for the company.

In addition to the customs agencies sales, the Protector-Class also did well with the Empire, which purchased them to serve as escort vessels within the Coreward, Colonies and Mid Rim parts of the Galaxy. These sales, however, have slowed dramatically since the inception of Rebel Privateering within the Mid Rim. This has forced the Empire to rethink its strategy in regions of Imperial space previously considered 'safe' and has started a replacement programme to upgrade its escort vessels.
