V-19 Torrent
At only six meters in length, the compact V-19 features tri-wing flight geometry with a central cockpit section. The horizontal wings exhibit a short, fully fixed section that is attached to a Velocity 400 ion engine. The engine mounting is designed such that the remainder of the wing can rotate through 90 degrees, between a ventral angle for flight and a dorsal angle to enable landing. The centrally positioned third wing rotates vertically through a full 180 degrees, again with the ventral position being used during flight and the dorsal required for landing. This central wing also houses the V-19's third engine, a Velocity 300, at the midpoint of the wing itself. This tri-wing arrangement gives the V-19 surprising stability and coupled with its powerful engine array makes it one of the fastest and most agile starfighters in its class. To realise the benefits of the V-19's tri-wing design and engine array, its designers kept the armour plating to a relatively average level and augmented it with a reliable shield generator. Whilst initially this was seen as a controversial decision, given the V-19's intended role, the prototypes quickly vindicated the designers during testing. For armament, the V-19 is equipped with a laser cannon on each of the horizontal wingtips and a pair of concussion missile launchers, giving it a decent punch for a starfighter of its size. The V-19's saw their first action at the Battle of Geonosis and they proved themselves to be any excellent addition to the Republic's Clone Army. In the very early phases of the war the V-19 was not available in any large numbers due to a low number of trained Clone Pilots, but this was soon rectified and they played a key role in the Battle of Muunilinst.

Slayn
& Korpil were commissioned by a mysterious Jedi Master going by the
name of Sifo-Dyas, to design and produce a short range Assault Starfighter
for the Republic. They were instructed to keep this order classified until
its target date some ten years later. During this time Slayn & Korpil's
engineers designed and tested numerous starfighters before finally settling
on their nineteenth design, later renamed V-19 Torrent, to fill the contract.
