K-3 Corvette - Standard ModelWith the success of the K-1 Gunboat, Nova Shipworks decided to expand their line of military/defence ships to the next level. After three years of debate, design, and the failure of the K-2 Escort program, the K-3 Corvette was born. The K-3 is a very versatile ship able to handle almost any situation and boasts a superior hyperdrive and decent sublight speeds. While comparable to CEC's Corvette in terms of mission profile and some capabilities, the K-3 does carry the edge in terms of its speed and backup hyperdrives. The ship also carries a platoon of marines for ship's defence and also for ship-to-ship boarding actions. The weapons package of the K-3 Corvette includes six turbolasers for use against capital ships and four quad laser cannons for anti-starfighter duties. With the introduction of the K-3 Nova Shipworks thought that they could crack into the corvette market that was dominated by CEC. In fact, when the design team was working on the K-3, they used the Corellian Corvette as a model upon which to base and improve their own ship. The marketing department put a lot of effort (and a few bribes) into the sales of the first K-3's to the corporations, system governments, and Imperial forces in and around the Aur sector. After use in combat, the popularity of these craft improved due mainly to the speed and anti-starfighter package of the K-3. Several variations of the K-3 were also produced including a missile corvette, a light carrier and a troop transport. Craft: Nova Shipworks K-3 Corvette

K-3m Corvette - Missile Model As the war between the various rebel fractions, pirate gangs, and Empire continued to escalate across the Tri-Sector Region there came a need for light, fast ships with heavy hitting potential. While Nova had been designing and building combat ships for some time, this was their first request for an offensive combat ship. While their design staff began work on the K-5, it was decided by the Board of Directors that some of their current designs could be refitted for offensive roles to meet with the current demand, and to help in what shape the K-5 would take. Of these refitted ships, there was the K-1t torpedo boat model, the failed K-1a assault model gunboat, and finally the K-3m Missile Corvette. The modifications made to the K-3 model were significant in terms of its weaponry load out. Firstly, four of the ship's turbolaser cannons and half of the anti-starfighter lasers were removed. In addition to that, the cargo capacity of the K-3 was reduced. In their place, four powerful concussion missile launchers were installed with two hundred missiles in storage. Many ships equipped with missile launchers generally have a limited range and usually fall short of the range of modern turbolasers. The missile system used by the K-3m, however, was lifted from those used in the old Victory-class Star Destroyers and then improved upon with their own missile technology thus increasing its range significantly. The Imperial forces that received the K-3m found them to be of great value and utilised them for a variety of different roles. They would usually fire the opening salvo in an engagement and also serve as a mobile reserve during the battle. With their speed and maneuverability, the K-3m was able to quickly travel from point to point in the battle and lend some heavy firepower. The K-3m was also found to be an excellent light bombardment ship being able to enter the atmosphere to obtain better targeting data than any ship in orbit. Even with the introduction of the K-5, the K-3m still remains a popular craft and is still requested by Imperial forces. Craft: Nova Shipworks K-3m Corvette

K-3t Corvette - Troop Carrier Model During the Great Insurrection (as the Galactic Civil War was called in the Tri-Sector Region) the need to move troops from system to system, to put down revolts or shore up defensive positions against ground forces, increased a hundred fold. Ordinarily the giant KDY troop ships would be used for troop transport missions, but most of them were re-deployed across the galaxy to conduct invasion operations. Strike cruisers could also be used as troop carriers, but they were too few in number since most of them were used in combat/carrier roles. So it fell to the local manufacturing facilities to provide small troop transport vessels. In the Tologon Sector the main small troop transport was the Nova Shipworks' K-3t Corvette. The K-3t can carry up to 400 troops, plus their equipment and up to 35 vehicles into almost any situation. The vehicles carried are divided into two repulsorlift platoons and two lances of speeder bikes. If needed, the vehicle bay and cargo hold may be modified to carry an AT-AT and 2 AT-ST walkers instead. The K-3t carries no drop ships and so must land on the planet to deploy the troops. This works as an advantage because the K-3t can also serve as an artillery/anti-aerospace platform. The K-3t functions mainly as a ferry craft for small company sized units from world to world. In some cases the K-3t functions as an assault craft against rebel bases. In these cases the K-3t carries an ad-hoc formation made up of an enlarged line company, 2 repulsorlift platoons, and a scout platoon. Craft: Nova Shipworks K-3t Corvette

K-3v Corvette - Light Carrier Model One of the main weapons used by the rebel forces in both the Zol and Aur sectors was the starfighter. When properly equipped and used in significant numbers (i.e. full squadron or more) they were able to overcome any convoy escort and force the prize ships to yield. A combination of both local corporate interests and the Imperial forces stationed in both sectors began demanding that there be an increase in starfighter support. While the Empire was more than able to supply the TIE fighters, events across the galaxy prevent all but a mere handful of Escort Carriers and Nebulon-B frigates from being stationed in the Tri-Sector Region. The Moffs of the sectors turned to Nova Shipworks to provide them with an efficient light convoy escort carrier. Nova decided to use their proven K-3 design for the carrier rather than design a new ship, thus saving credits, time, and proving the versatility of the K-3 design. To make room for the starfighters, a significant portion of the K-3 needed to be remodelled, resulting in the centre of the ship being widened, and the reduction in cargo capacity. In addition to this, four of the ship's turbolasers were removed, but the ships anti-starfighter lasers were retained. An internal hanger bay was installed that could handle an entire squadron of fighters. While the TIEs did not take much space, the hanger was made large enough to accommodate other starfighters, which were used by the system governments and corporations that also bought the K-3v. The K-3v was also equipped with an advanced sensor suite, which allowed the craft to detect any ships nearing the convoy before they get into weapons range. The K-3v's main role was convoy escort, usually with either two K-3s or several K-1 gunboats. Due to their advance sensors and superior communications systems they often served as the convoy flagship. Some K-3v's were also used in regular naval units in recon lines where their sensors were put to best use. Craft: Nova Shipworks K-3v Corvette
