If there are many different types of starships in the galaxy, then there must certainly exist planetary vehicles without number. Here are some of the machines used by the citizens of Elrood sector to traverse air, land, and sea. FT-PT 'Snowhopper'Designed for use in an arctic setting, the FT-PT, or 'snowhopper' is employed chiefly on the frozen surface of Lanthrym (though they are made by Accumotion Industries, on Torina). The snowhopper travels by literally hopping across ice and snowdrifts, its wide leg span and low centre of gravity keeping it safe from rolling over. In addition to this, all eight of its 'feet' have been equipped with sharp, digging claws, giving the vehicle the traction it needs to avoid slipping on the ice. Despite all this, the snowhopper is a very difficult vehicle to get the hang of, its hopping motion being foreign to most drivers (a pilot who does not possess the snowhopper specialization suffers a –1D penalty to operate or repair the vehicle). It is reliable in temperatures that would render standard repulsorlifts inoperable, however, and is not as prone to crashing as the walkers employed by the Imperial Army. The FT-PT is equipped with a cockpit-mounted double laser cannon, a necessity for fending off wampas, and Lanthrym's fearsome indigenous snowcrabs. The snowhoppers at Rocket Rental come equipped with two glowrods and a lifeform scanner (Star Wars Adventure Journal Vol. 1 no. 4, page 262 - West End Games).
Quarry Work TruckTypical of the many utility vehicles found across the galaxy, the Renwar R-67 is rugged, reliable, and safe. An older model, the R-67 still sees active use in all sorts of industries, in all sorts of planetary environments. Employing old-style tread locomotion, the R-67 is very cheap to maintain, and relatively easy to repair. The truck is also available with a turret-mounted laser cannon, a handy item in hostile environments, or where alterations to the landscape may need to be made.
